Baby Teeth Don\u2019t Matter Because They Fall Out<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This isn\u2019t true at all! Baby teeth are more than just temporary placeholders that guide the future adult teeth into place; they also help kids learn how to speak clearly, eat comfortably, and smile with confidence. Losing them too early can cause misalignment as well as long-term dental issues. Be sure you\u2019re helping your child to care properly for their pearly whites at every stage in life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Myth #2. Only Sugar Can Cause Cavities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Sugar is certainly one of the biggest contributors when it comes to cavities and dental decay, but it\u2019s far from the only threat. Cavities are really caused by bacteria inside the mouth that feed on sugars and produce acids; however, these same acids are also made when starchy items are consumed. In fact, eating healthy options can even contribute to this acid formation if your child isn\u2019t diligent about daily oral hygiene. So while excessive amounts of sugar should be avoided, due to their role in forming cavities, it\u2019s not all that you need to be concerned about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Myth #3. Fluoride Isn\u2019t Safe for Children<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral that\u2019s found in almost all oral hygiene products, as well as most public drinking water supplies. It\u2019s a highly safe and proven way to protect teeth and prevent cavities from becoming serious threats. During your child\u2019s routine checkup, it\u2019s normal for their dentist to suggest a supplemental fluoride treatment, as a way of providing an added layer of protection to their teeth between visits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Myth #4. Kids Don\u2019t Need a Checkup Until They Have All Their Teeth<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Early dental visits, ideally by a child\u2019s first birthday, are key to preventing problems and helping children to feel accustomed to the dental office.
